What is Birmingham Drug Discovery Hub?
The Birmingham Drug Discovery Hub is an interdisciplinary community of researchers working to translate the best academic innovation into patient benefit.
Securing funding remains a significant hurdle for academics, as they strive to fill the void between research council and charities and the creation of data that entices commercial backers. This funding gap often hinders the advancement of groundbreaking research into tangible patient advantages, further complicated by the lack of specialists capable of evaluating a project's merit.
In the Birmingham Drug Discovery Hub, we have significant expertise in fields important for drug discovery, ranging from medicinal chemistry, computational biology, toxicology, screening, structural biology, discovery of new targets and elucidation of disease mechanisms. We also have an extensive network of aligned internal and external experts with the passion and experience to select and drive the right drug projects, plus the experts to make the right connections to capitalise on opportunities.
