Our research in the Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit

Birmingham Clinical Trials Unit (BCTU) manage a wide range of research on behalf of our collaborators with around 50 projects at any one time.

Please see the list of research areas and click on the relevant one to view the list of projects currently recruiting or in follow up at BCTU.

Other research

Although the main remit of BCTU is to undertake randomised controlled trials, with a specific focus on late-phase trials, we do also undertake other types of research.

This includes pilot and feasibility studies, test evaluation studies, and occasionally observational studies and systematic reviews/meta-analyses. We will support observational studies when randomised controlled trials are not possible to answer a question about the effectiveness of an intervention and/or where the quality of data collection and data management is required to be at the standard of that of a randomised controlled trial.
