The Anechoic Chamber Suite, consisting of a radio frequency-shielded, EM absorber-lined chamber (10.3 x 6.8 x 3.7 m) and measurement equipment, enables simultaneous exploration of radiation, near-field, and far-field interactions of antennas and objects under test. This unique facility covers a wide frequency range from 900 MHz to 500 GHz.
Modular software and a PC control the Vector Network Analyzer (VNA), translational, and rotational stages, automating the measurement acquisition process. The software allows for the reconstruction of antenna radiation patterns from far-field (FF) and spherical near-field (SNF) measurements and supports the exploration of 3D monostatic and bistatic scattering profiles. Additionally, the software is fully customizable and scriptable to support non-standard measurements.
A VNA with a large dynamic range is used to coherently generate and detect RF signals from 900 MHz to 50 GHz. For frequencies beyond 50 GHz, frequency extender heads (add-on modules) are used to extend the VNA’s operational frequency range into the upper mm-wave bands, up to 500 GHz.
Key equipment:
- Rohde&Schwartz ZNA50 4 port Vector Network Analyzer (10 MHz – 50 GHz).
- Rohde&Schwartz and VDI Frequency Extension Modules (50 GHz – 500 GHz).
- Radio frequency shielded, and EM absorber lined chamber (10.3 x 6.8 x 3.7 m).
- Three platforms, each equipped with a stack of high-precision electromechanical stages, provide rotational and translational degrees of freedom for mounting antennas, RCS targets, or (meta-)material samples. Two of these platforms are moveable: one on a semicircular rail to support a feed for radar cross-section (RCS) measurements and the second on a linear rail to allow reconfiguration between far-field, RCS, and near-field measurement modes, providing either another feed location or support for a target or material.

Our services
At the Anechoic Chamber suite, we offer a flexible range of services for industrial and academic research and development projects. Our equipment enables the exploration of simultaneous radiation, near-field, and far-field interactions of antennas and nearby objects, covering a frequency range from 900 MHz to 500 GHz.
It is uniquely equipped for electromagnetic (EM) characterization of antennas and novel EM structures (e.g., metasurfaces) and EM scattering in a controlled, reconfigurable environment.
The chamber, mechanically isolated from the building with vibrationally damped foundations and lined with absorber panels rated up to 500 GHz, provides seamless hardware-software integration for automated, high-precision measurements with a large dynamic range.
We also provide technical support for system usage and software tools.
