Using a mixture of taught material and lab-based research, you will be provided with the skills and specialised knowledge needed for a career in biotechnology. Practical element will focus on fermentation, molecular biology, functional genetics and genomics, cell biology and protein chemistry. You will then go on to complete a major, supervised laboratory or computer-based research project.
Our Molecular Biotechnology MSc provides you with training in the skills and specialised knowledge needed to equip you for a career in molecular biotechnology in industry or academia. The course has been designed in consultation with experts in biotechnology industries.

To gain a place at Birmingham you will need to meet our general entry requirements, as well as those specific to your course. Your application will be reviewed by the course’s Admissions Tutor, who will decide whether your application should receive an offer.

If you are an international student, you will need to demonstrate you have a suitable level of English proficiency, usually through the form of an IELTS or equivalent qualification.
