Birmingham Centre for Philosophy of Religion
We aim to foster excellence in teaching and research in the philosophy of religion from a global perspective.
We aim to be a leading research centre in the philosophy of religion in the English-speaking world. The Centre is located in the School of Philosophy, Theology and Religion and is dedicated to promote critical thinking about the metaphysical, epistemological and moral questions concerning religious belief and practice.
The activities of the Centre include a regular seminar for staff and students, a visiting speaker programme, academic conferences, collaboration with other scholars (nationally and internationally) in developing research projects, and postgraduate teaching to nurture the next generation of philosophers of religion.
The Centre was launched in 2011 as the John Hick Centre for Philosophy of Religion. It was renewed and relaunched in 2020 as the Birmingham Centre for Philosophy of Religion, which promotes a wider range of approaches and activities in the philosophy of religion.
