The Birmingham Award
The Birmingham Award
The Birmingham Award (formerly the Personal Skills Award) is the University’s employability award for undergraduate students.
The award supports students from all disciplines to develop, recognise and articulate their skills in preparation for real-world recruitment processes.
The award-winning programme allows students to gain recognition for participation in extra-curricular activities. There is also an educational component which supports students to reflect on and effectively articulate their skills in graduate recruitment processes.
We encourage employers to take part in the Birmingham Award. We offer employer partner opportunities (reviewed in July/August of each year) for a select number of employers to help support with the Birmingham Award assessment process. The employer supporter package gives employers the opportunity to share information about their organisation to students undertaking the award, and to share their knowledge of graduate recruitment processes.
Find out more on the Birmingham Award website and email the team at thebirminghamaward@contacts.bham.ac.uk.

We recognise that some companies will want to target students from defined academic disciplines, and build relationships with staff in specific schools and colleges.
A great way to do this is by participating at events organised by our specialised college careers teams. These events tend to be based around a particular subject where you may be able to provide invaluable sector insight whilst increasing brand awareness and building relationships.
These events are open to recruiters by invitation-only as these events are defined by student demand. You can express your interest in speaking and participating at these events by emailing recruiters@contacts.bham.ac.uk.
