The British Academy and the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace have awarded Birmingham Law School’s Dr Henok Asmelash a £147,000 Global Innovation Fellowship.
The Global Innovation Fellowships provide opportunities for UK-based researchers to develop their skills and networks while addressing challenges through innovative solutions.
Alongside the funding, Dr Asmelash will have the opportunity to work in the United States for a year, developing new relationships between the University and US-based legal professionals.
Reacting to the fellowship appointment, Dr Asmelash said: “I am extremely happy to have been awarded this prestigious and highly competitive fellowship from the British Academy. The fellowship allows me to advance my policy-oriented research on the external and environmental dimensions of regional economic integration initiatives in Africa. I am looking forward to spending a year at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace in Washington DC and collaborate with colleagues particularly in the Africa program as well as in the program on Sustainability, Climate Change and Geopolitics.
