In this episode, Prof Milada Vachudova (University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill) and Prof Tim Haughton talk with host Dr Licia Cianetti about how ethno-populist and illiberal politicians have been reshaping the region’s politics, how people have gone to the streets to protest against anti-democratic and corrupt governments, and the many ways in which post-communist Europe is actually not that different from democracies in the “West.”
