University Music will continue its burgeoning partnership with the leading British choir, Ex Cathedra through the academic year 24/25.
Starting in September 2023, University of Birmingham offered four student scholarships to promising vocal students from its choral programme, providing opportunities for professional career development, along with strengthening the position of the University as a centre for choral endeavour.
Continuing the partnership for another year, University Music is pleased to announce scholarships have been awarded to Hannah Rowe, Alice Madden, Molly Fry, and Alex Dixon. These students will sing in Ex Cathedra projects with Jeffrey Skidmore across the academic year, giving invaluable opportunities for vocal development, alongside working to professional standards in preparation for careers and further study following their undergraduate degrees.
Choirs are an integral part of University Music in Birmingham, and offer unrivalled opportunities for young singers at any university in the UK. This endeavour is supported by the distinguished choral music-making team at the university, which has internationally renowned musicians Professor Simon Halsey CBE, Bob Chilcott, Julian Wilkins, and Mariana Rosas delivering a wide range of choral activity, alongside partnerships with CBSO and Ex Cathedra.
