The University of Birmingham’s Student Living team has won the University Halls of Residence Award at this year’s Student Accommodation Awards, hosted by Property Week.

The biggest event in the student housing sector, the awards recognise those who have gone above and beyond to provide the best student homes in the UK. Student Living was awarded ‘University Residence of Year’ for its low-carbon townhouses at Pritchatts Park Village – the University’s most sustainable student village.

The townhouses feature motion-sensor lighting and double glazing for optimal heat insulation and are equipped with solar panels to provide renewable energy to the site. This design not only lowers utility costs but also aligns with the University’s commitment to be operationally net zero by 2045.

The award recognises all that has been achieved at Pritchatts Park through our long-term partnership with Equans and Equitix. Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved in supporting this brilliant project.

This focus has been carried through to the village’s new, easy-to-access student hub – a place for residents to relax, study, and enjoy free events as part of Student Living’s free Residence Life scheme. This is also something that placed University of Birmingham above the rest, with Student Living being commended for its ‘diverse calendar of events’ that help to create a genuine sense of community for our students.

Upon winning the University Halls of Residence Award, Tim Owen, Director of Accommodation and Operations, said: "The award recognises all that has been achieved at Pritchatts Park through our long-term partnership with Equans and Equitix. Congratulations and thank you to everyone involved in supporting this brilliant project."

The Pritchatts Park redevelopment project began in 2021 and was completed this September. Delivered in partnership with Equans and Equitix, the success of the project was also recognised further at the Awards with a nomination for the Collaboration Award.
