Lisa Bortolotti discusses her recent research with Jazmine Russell, for the "Depth Work: Mind, Body & Society in Mental Health" podcast.

The conversation focuses on how to talk to people with radically different beliefs. In this video, Lisa explores the implications of two projects she is involved in, the UKRI-funded Agency-in-Practice project and the Wellcome Trust-funded project EPIC for young people who seek help with their mental health.

Bortolotti also covers polarisation in public debates when people do not seem to have productive exchanges due to their subscribing to different values and committing to different perspectives on policy, evidence, and expertise. She argues that the practices of manifesting genuine curiosity about the other person's experiences and respecting their agency encourage mutual understanding and help building connections.
