Announced at the ENSAT Annual Meeting in Palma de Mallorca 2-4 October 2024, Dr Ronchi’s mandate as President will start from 1st January 2025 for three years.
Upon being elected as President, Dr Ronchi said: "I am honoured and humbled to become the first female President of the European Network for the Study of Adrenal Tumours. The ENSAT is aimed to combine the efforts of scientists and clinicians from several countries to progress our understanding of adrenal tumours, including rare adrenal cancers, and improve the clinical management of patients at a European-wide level. During my mandate, I intend to promote multi-disciplinary approaches and encourage the involvement of early-career researchers. I also aim to increase public awareness about adrenal tumours through dissemination activities, as well as strengthen the engagement of patient associations and pharmaceutical companies. This approach will help to bridge the gaps and tackle current challenges in the diagnosis and treatment of patients with adrenal tumours."
Dr Ronchi is Associate Professor in Endocrine Oncology at the University of Birmingham, where she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate students at the School of Medical Sciences. Her research focuses on investigating mechanisms of development of adrenal tumours and markers for diagnosis and prognosis of malignant adrenal cancers. She also leads the Adrenal Tumour Service at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, organising regular educational activities, as well as public and patient involvement and engagement events.
She has obtained fellowships, prizes and grants as financial support for her research projects. She has published more than 110 peer-reviewed journal articles and is regularly invited to present in national and international conferences.
She is a member of four scientific societies and active as peer-reviewer for journals, grants and conferences. She is Associate Editor of the journal Endocrine Oncology.
Dr Ronchi has been a core member of the ENSAT Executive Board since 2021, leading one of the Working Groups, and has coordinated several multicentric projects on behalf of ENSAT.
