With our focus on regional growth and championing innovation, the University of Birmingham is proud to work alongside Birmingham Tech to host an exciting programme of activities celebrating digital innovation and supporting organisations looking for research insight and to scale in the region.

With over 5,000 people attending, Birmingham Tech Week events will be taking place across the entire West Midlands covering a variety of important and innovative topics. We will be contributing several events to this year’s week of all things tech – delving into digital skills, talent and inclusion, exploring business tech challenges and showing how our coding bootcamps are changing lives.

For the second year running the University’s city centre hub, The Exchange will play host to a Digital Skills Symposium, sponsored by wise, that takes place on Thursday 13 October.

Featuring inspiring talks, panel discussions, interview style sessions with young digital pioneers and corporate employers, SMEs and tech entrepreneurs. This one day event brings together businesses in the field of tech from across all sectors as well as scale-up founders and owners of tech start-ups, senior leaders in the digital industries and academic experts focused on digital skills and innovation.

The free session, open to all interested businesses, will support you to recognise barriers to success in your business and identify where you can find support to meet these challenges and grow your business. Places are free and limited for the event so sign up early via the Birmingham Tech Week website. Registration opens at 8:00am on arrival at The Exchange.

The day also includes a fantastic opportunity to learn more about the University of Birmingham Coding and Data Analytics Bootcamps.

Join us for a coffee and hear from the team at an insightful post-Symposium talk ‘Changing Lives with the University of Birmingham Boot Camps’, 4.30pm - 5.15pm.

There will also be a Bootcamp Open Evening, 6pm – 7pm, suitable for employers who would like to learn more about Bootcamps for their colleagues and organisation with an opportunity to raise questions and find out how the bootcamps work.

Closing out the day on Thursday night, the fantastic folk at SuperTech are back with their Annual ProfTech Dinner which this year features keynote guest speaker Graeme Chaplin from The Bank of England. An evening event not to be missed for those in fintech, lawtech, proptech, insurtech, HRtech or other professional services within the tech related domain.

The Exchange will be buzzing on 13 October, celebrating new ideas, entrepreneurial spirit and all with the aim of equipping businesses to embrace the latest developments in the digital frontier.
