The Monday after polls closed a hundred students and staff attended a special panel discussion on the 2020 US Elections organized as part of the activities of the Parties, Voters and Elections research group.   Adam Quinn, Jeannie Morefield  and Patrick Porter reflected on the explanations for Joe Biden’s victory over Donald Trump. Tim Haughton who organized the event noted, ‘much has already been said about the 2020 elections, but there is a danger of misinterpreting the results and their significance, so it was great for students and colleagues to hear from experts who helped illuminate the drivers of electoral success, the more complicated and nuanced role different ethnic groups played in the election  and the challenges facing the Democratic party’.
