Applications for doctoral scholarships now open

The University of Birmingham's College of Social Sciences invites expressions of interest from applicants for Midlands Graduate School Doctoral Studentships as well as a number of additional college scholarships.

The University of Birmingham’s College of Social Sciences invites expressions of interest from applicants for Midlands Graduate School Doctoral Studentships in the following pathways: Applied Linguistics; Area Studies; Economic and Social History; Economics; Education; Health and Well-being; Human Geography; Management, Business Studies and Finance; Political Science and International Relations; Psychology, Social Policy and Social Work; Socio-legal Studies, and Sport and Exercise Science.

The Midlands Graduate School is an accredited Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Doctoral Training Partnership (DTP). One of 14 such partnerships in the UK, the Midlands Graduate School is a collaboration between Aston University, University of Birmingham, University of Leicester, Loughborough University, University of Nottingham and the University of Warwick.

ESRC studentships cover fees and maintenance stipend (if eligible) and extensive support for research training, as well as research activity support grants.

22 January 2020 (23:59 GMT): closing date for Midlands Graduate School Doctoral studentship and School Scholarships in the School of Social Policy, School of Government and School of Education.
