Join us to celebrate the international Brain Awareness Week: a Public Engagement event celebrated worldwide, to raise public awareness of the importance of brain research. It will be organized and delivered by the neuroscience community from the School of Biosciences, School of Psychology and the Medical School, on behalf of the University of Birmingham. We will have a mixture of information, entertainment, excitement and fun, to enthuse and engage the young and old equally.

We will have practical demonstrations with objects, microscopes, direct interactions with scientists, etc, on:

  1. how human vision works (Lab of Ann Logan);
  2. the consequence of brain disease and injury (Labs of Ann Logan, Zsuzsa Nagy and Alison Cooper);
  3. how using tiny fruitflies brings about discoveries on how the brain works, brain damage and disease (Labs of Alicia Hidalgo and Richard Tuxworth);
  4. how human cognition comes about (Labs of Stephane De Brito and Andy Bagshaw).
