5 Soldiers: The Body is the Frontline, a 5-star, award-winning show from Rosie Kay Dance Company was broadcast live from an Army base in Central London on Friday 8 September 2017.
This performance was presented by Sadler's Wells and marked the start of a six-week tour, taking dance into the heart of Army barracks around the country. The live stream was commissioned by The Space as part of its mission to use digital technology to bring great art to wider audiences. It received 63K views
5 Soldiers is a visceral portrayal of the lives and experiences of a female and four young male soldiers as they undergo training and are deployed in the middle of a brutal conflict. It explores issues as diverse as gender, the impact of war and conflict, discipline, dealing with injury, sacrifice, and the rigours of military training.
