- The G4S trial of robot, Bob, developed by colleagues in the School of Computer Science was featured in an article in The New Zealand Herald and The Independent as part of a discussion around the roles robots may be able to perform in future.
- PhD student Maggie Lieu (School of Physics and Astronomy) has been chosen as one of the finalists for the Mars One mission. This story was widely reported, with Maggie being featured in a range of national, international and regional media outlets, including: i (The paper for today), The Times, The Independent, ITV News, BBC Radio WM, BBC Midlands Today, Sky News, ITV’s Good Morning Britain, The Guardian, The Daily Mail Online, The Telegraph, The Birmingham Mail, The Mirror, Russia Today, CNN, Die Welt (Germany), CCTV China, La Republica (Peru), L’Express (France), Sina (China), and Xinhuanet (China).
- Professor Dave Charlton was featured in an article in Gulf News about experiments in the search for dark matter at the Large Hadron Collider.
- Professor Yulong Ding (School of Chemical Engineering), Director of the Birmingham Centre for Energy Storage was mentioned in the 10thAnniversary EPSRC Pioneer Journal 2004-14, for his energy storage research and the relocation of the Highview LAES pilot plant to the University of Birmingham.
- Dr Zoe Schnepp contributed an article to the Conversation titled ‘Artificial proteins could bring the next biological revolution’ (13.02.15)
