Dr Benedetta Rossi (Department of African Studies and Anthropology) has been invited to give the Evans-Pritchard Lectures at All Souls College, Oxford, in 2015-2016.
The topic of her lectures will be ‘Slavery and Emancipation in Twentieth Century Africa’ and her lectures will take place early in the Summer Term 2016. The Evans-Pritchard Lectureship is dedicated to the memory of Sir Edward Evans–Pritchard, Professor of Social Anthropology and Fellow of All Souls (1946-70). Every year a committee of electors selects a series of four to six lectures that provide an empirical analysis of social relations based on fieldwork and primary research in the disciplines (social anthropology, classical studies, archaeology, modern history, oriental studies) and the geographical areas (Africa, the Middle East, the Mediterranean) that most occupied Sir Evans-Pritchard.
