On 11 November 2014 the award-winning stage and screen actor Jeremy Irons visited the Shakespeare Institute to address the Shakespeare Club of Stratford-upon-Avon about his experiences and ideals as a performer.
Irons, who first appeared in Stratford with the RSC in the 1970s and played Leontes and Richard II for the company in 1986, formally took over the presidency of the Club for 2014-15 from the Director of the Shakespeare Institute and 2013-14 president, Professor Michael Dobson. Mr Irons’ talk was both illuminating and candid, and like many great actors before him he enjoyed the stimulating and well-informed questions and conversation of Shakespeare Institute students and alumni.
