Nominations for the second annual Jubilee Awards for Service are now open to dedicated public sector workers.

Led by the University of Birmingham’s Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues, the awards celebrate outstanding service in the public sector.

The Jubilee Centre for Character and Virtues is the first UK centre dedicated to research into the character, values and virtues that shape UK society. The Centre’s aim is to contribute to the renewal of character and virtues in Britain through research and development activities.

The awards are designed to support the Centre’s aims and ensure that character and virtues remain at the heart of public debate and to showcase our gratitude to the outstanding service provided by public sector workers.

Nominees should be people who have shown dedication in the public services or who regularly go above and beyond their normal duties. These can be anyone working in the public sector, including nurses, doctors, teachers or police. The nominations will be judged by a panel and those shortlisted will be invited to a presentation ceremony on 24 July at the House of Lords where winners will be presented with their awards.

For further information and to access the online nomination form please visit the Centre’s website. Nominations close on 30 April 2014.

Ends.
