A Birmingham children's nursery is branching out following an outstanding review.

Not only has the Elms Day Nursery at the University of Birmingham received a glowing OFSTED inspection, but it's now entering a new era, with plans for expansion.

The nursery, on Edgbaston Park Road, Birmingham, has been awarded an 'outstanding' grade in many areas, with an overall rating of 'good', by education inspection body OFSTED. The report states: 'Children are extraordinarily happy and enjoy their time at the setting.' It adds: 'They benefit from the staff's caring attitudes and enthusiasm for providing high quality learning and experiences.'

Tasmin Butt has worked at The Elms since it opened 16 years ago is already the proud recipient of an OFSTED award. She's managed the nursery for the last two years and is delighted by the news.

Tasmin said: "We are over-the-moon – this is wonderful news for everyone. I'm so delighted for staff, children and parents that all our hard work has paid off. I love my job and all credit must go to this outstanding team. I want to say a big 'thank-you' to all."

The Elms is home to more than 160 children from 3 months to 5 years. Now there are plans to give the youngsters even more space with a modern extension at the back of the building, including a new Baby Unit.

Tasmin said: "We're all really excited about the new plans. It means even more room for children and a chance for them to enjoy their nursery experience even more. I can't wait to get started!"
