Meet Sophie Roberts
How does the training provider deliver the training?
My training provider is Cambridge Marketing College. My training is delivered online, with a combination of videos, pre-recorded talks, articles, podcasts, etc to study. The tasks are given online - I made physical and online notes and keep them to show my tutor and line manager.
How does your coach/mentor support you?
I have monthly Teams meetings with my tutor from the college where we discuss the previous month's work (college and job related), anything upcoming, and anything interesting relating to my learning or CR&S as a whole.
What is your typical day at work?
I'm lucky in that my job is quite varied day-to-day. Generally, I start the mornings in the office, catching up on emails and doing other admin. From then on, I might stay in the office on Teams meetings, speaking to staff and students about the various sustainable travel options available, or typing up and analysing data, amongst other things. Alternatively, I may be on and around campus helping to hand loan bikes over, showing people where the secure bike storage is, speaking to people at fairs about sustainable travel on campus, conducting audits of facilities, or doing other tasks.
What has been the best part of your apprenticeship?
Learning so many things, both in studying and in the work place.
What do you hope to do on completion of your apprenticeship?
I hope that I will have gained the skills and knowledge for the CR&S sector and be able to use these in a job either here at the university or elsewhere.
