The University of Birmingham is offering a scholarship for international students, the 125th Anniversary Scholarships, an award of up to £5,000 to provide support for students commencing their Masters degree in 2025/26.

The award is financed jointly by the University and the DFID. The award will cover:

  • Full tuition fees
  • Maintenance stipend
  • Air fare to and from the United Kingdom
  • Immigration Health Surcharge costs 
  • A one-off arrival allowance payment 
  • Thesis expenses 
  • Study travel grant
  • Optical and Dental allowance

The Commonwealth Shared Scholarship Scheme is a joint initiative between the UK Department for International Development (DFID) and UK universities.

Each of the 3 scholarships comprise a £6,000 award towards tuition fees (for the first year only) of a full-time postgraduate degree programme at the University of Birmingham UK campus, starting September 2025.

  • A yearly £5,000 payment to help with study costs, paid monthly.
  • A fully-funded place in University-owned accommodation for the duration of your course.
