Our training centre workshops and courses provide users with basic knowledge and skills to come and use the Cellular Health and Metabolism Facility independently. All our workshops and courses are run face-to-face and involve a combination of practical and classroom sessions.
See below for specific details of workshops and courses running this year.
Agilent Seahorse Extracellular Flux (XF) Analysis Workshop (3-day course)
The aim of this 3-day workshop is to develop knowledge, expertise and skills required to independently use Seahorse XF Analysis to assess real-time cellular metabolism in intact cells and/or tissues. You will develop a basic understanding of cellular bioenergetics, learn how to design XF experiments using WAVE software, gain hands-on experience in setting up and running an XF experiment and acquire the basic knowledge to analyse and interpret XF data.
By the end of this course you will understand the fundamentals of XF technology and learn how to use it independently for your own model system.
Course Prices:
Staff: £300.00

Measuring Cell Viability and Cytotoxicity in Real-Time (1-day course)
Utilising Promega’s RealTime-Glo™ MT Cell Viability and CellTox™ Green Cytotoxicity Assays, this 1-day training course will provide an introduction of how to measure cell viability and/or cytotoxicity in real-time using the atmospheric control unit on our BMG CLARIOstar Plus plate reader. By multiplexing these assays, you can obtain much more information about the mode of action of a treatment including time and dose dependence on cell viability. Deeper analysis can also reveal if changes in cell death are linked with apoptosis, necrosis and/or secondary necrosis.
The assay reagents used in these assays can be added to cells during plating, during treatment or at the end of treatment. No cell washing, media removal or further additions are required. The nonlytic nature and rapid response of these assays make them possible to monitor cell viability for upto 72 hours in the same well and enables easy multiplexing with other cell-based assays or downstream applications. These assays are ATP-independent, providing an orthogonal method for viability and/or cytotoxicity determination.
