Course structure
Our 3-year programme sets the foundation by introduction of key themes to then build your degree focussed on your interests and career aspirations.
Your first year introduces the study of business and focus on principles of marketing. You will cover themes of management, marketing, entrepreneurship, economics, finance, law, purchasing, accounting, analytical techniques, and more generally, IT for business. You’ll take two work placements in the summer vacation at the end of year one and end of year two.

Your progress is assessed through coursework and exams. Coursework takes a variety of forms, including reports, essays, group presentations, class essays and computer assignments. You must achieve satisfactory results to proceed to the next year. Your final degree is based on marks gained in the second and third years and credits which you build up throughout the whole programme. Both placements are worth 120 credits in total and comprise of 12.5% of the total degree classification.

To gain a place at Birmingham you will need to meet our general entry requirements, as well as those specific to your course. Your application will be reviewed by the course’s Admissions Tutor, who will decide whether your application should receive an offer.

3 A Levels. Typical offer AAB-BBB. GCSE Mathematics at grade 5/B and English at grade 6/B required. General Studies is not accepted as one of three A2s, but a good performance may be taken into account if you fail to meet the conditions of the offer and have General Studies as a fourth A2

In order to undertake a programme of study here at the University, you will need to demonstrate that you have a good level of written and spoken English. You can demonstrate your level of English with IELTS/TOEFL/PTE or alternative qualifications.
