The UAE flag

The flag of the United Arab Emirates is rich in symbolism and meaning, reflecting the values and aspirations of the country. Each colour on the flag has a special meaning:

  • Green represents hope, joy, optimism and love. It can also symbolise the country’s prosperity.
  • White is the purest colour. Standing for peace and honesty, some see it as a symbol for cleanliness.
  • Black stands for the defeating of enemies and strength of mind.
  • Red represents hardiness, bravery, strength and courage. The vertical red band can also be interpreted as binding all the other meanings together in unity.
