The MSc is a 12-month full-time taught masters degree (180 credits) consisting of 120 credits of taught modules and a 60 credit research project.
The disertation is completed under the direction of a project supervisor which will give you the opportunity to work one-to-one with a leading expert in the field.
During this term you'll build a solid foundation in Financial Data Science.
You'll explore topics such as the mathematical modelling of randomness, data visualisation, deep learning and neural networks, and the foundations of data analysis, statistical principles and techniques.

During the summer, you'll undertake a 60-credit research module, giving you the opportunity to apply your knowledge to an independent research project. This will involve selecting a topic of interest within Financial Data Science that will apply or expand the skills learned in the taught modules.
It will also involve critical analysis of the problem under investigation in the context of known literature, description of the methods used or developed and presentation of the final result.
The project culminates in a well-structured dissertation, demonstrating advanced research, analytical, and communication skills.

We offer a combination of evening and weekend classes which are designed to accommodate working professionals and those who choose to study full-time.
Our typical course timetable is designed to deliver teaching on weekday evenings from 18:00-21:00 and on Saturday from 09:00-16:00.

To secure your place at the University of Birmingham Dubai, you must meet both our general entry requirements and the specific criteria for your chosen course. Your application will be carefully reviewed by the course’s Admissions Tutor, who will determine if you will receive an offer.
2:1 Honours Degree in Mathematics and/or Statistics or a programme with advanced mathematical and/or statistical components.
In order to undertake a programme of study here at the University, you will need to demonstrate that you have a good level of written and spoken English. You can demonstrate your level of English with IELTS/TOEFL/PTE or alternative qualifications.
The University tuition fee covers the cost of your tuition, examination and graduation.

We charge an annual tuition fee. The fees quoted are by full time or part time per year of study. For those studying courses over two or more years, the tuition fee will also be payable in subsequent years of your programme.
Tuition fees can be paid in full or in three instalments per year of study.
