Public health practitioners play a vital role in improving population health and driving positive change. Our Masters in Public Health programme draws on the University's world-leading expertise to equip you with the knowledge and skills for effective disease prevention, health protection, and health promotion.
This course will run over 12 months, full-time. It can also be undertaken on a part-time basis. While the exact content may change, here’s what you can expect to study each term. This is based on a full time Masters course.
In the first term, you'll build a strong foundation in key public health disciplines, focusing on Epidemiology, Statistics, and Research Methods. You'll gain practical skills in applying epidemiological and statistical techniques and explore the role of health information and informatics in public health practice. Additionally, you're introduced to the principles of Healthcare Public Health, equipping you with the knowledge to address population health challenges.

Our programme is an internationally recognised qualification in Public Health and will equip you with a broad range of skills that are invaluable for working in the public health field. You’ll learn from world-leading academics and researchers at a top-100 global university. From the outset we’ll challenge and encourage you to become an independent and self-motivated learner.
This course consists of seven taught modules and one independent research project.
We offer a combination of evening and weekend classes which are designed to accommodate working professionals and those who choose to study full-time. Classes are delivered on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday evenings from 18:00-21:00, with an extended session on Sunday from 9:00-17:00.

The course comprises 120 credits of taught material. There is also a 60 credit individual project.

To secure your place at the University of Birmingham Dubai, you must meet both our general entry requirements and the specific criteria for your chosen course. Your application will be carefully reviewed by the course’s Admissions Tutor, who will determine if you will receive an offer.
In a subject relevant to public health
Applicants who do not have a 2:1 Honours degree but who have relevant experience, may be considered. Please get in touch with us to discuss your suitability prior to applying.For international students there is an English language requirement to have an IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band. We will consider students with a 6.0 overall score on a case-by-case basis.If you're made an offer of a place to study and you don't already meet the language requirement, you have the option to enrol on our English for Academic Purposes Presessional Course. If you successfully complete this, you'll be able to fulfil the language requirement without needing to take a further qualification.
In order to undertake a programme of study here at the University, you will need to demonstrate that you have a good level of written and spoken English. You can demonstrate your level of English with IELTS/TOEFL/PTE or alternative qualifications.
The University tuition fee covers the cost of your tuition, examination and graduation.

We charge an annual tuition fee. The fees quoted are by full time or part time per year of study. For those studying courses over two or more years, the tuition fee will also be payable in subsequent years of your programme.
Tuition fees can be paid in full or in three instalments per year of study.
