Our Standard Requirements

In order to be considered, applicants will have or should be expecting to achieve an Honours degree (2:1 or higher) or postgraduate diploma from a UK university (or overseas equivalent) in Accounting or a closely related subject.

Applicants must have achieved a pass mark at undergraduate level in Financial Accounting or Financial Reporting, AND Finance or Financial Management modules at an intermediate or advanced level. Additionally, applicants must have also achieved a pass mark at undergraduate level in two additional Accounting and Finance modules.

If the Honours degree is not in Accounting or a closely related subject but an applicant has obtained the required modules listed above, we can consider the application and will assess the academic transcript to ensure that the requirements have been met.

Applicants who demonstrate being able to exceed the minimum entry requirements will be given preference.

International Requirements



International Students

Standard English language requirements apply (IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band).


  • IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band
  • TOEFL: 88 overall with no less than 21 in Reading, 20 in Listening, 22 in Speaking and 21 in Writing
  • Pearson Test of English (PTE) including online: PTE Academic 67 with no less than 64 in all four skills
  • Cambridge English (exams taken from 2015): Advanced – minimum overall score of 176, with no less than 169 in any component

 

The University of Birmingham Dubai offers access to a brand-new, state-of-the-art campus where you will be part of a supportive community who you will get to know personally. 

You will have the same teaching as offered on our Edgbaston campus, meaning you will receive an education from a top 100, globally respected research-intensive Russell Group university. The flexible programme will allow you to tailor your studies to suit your personal circumstances such as intensive weekend studies and evening classes so you can study while you work. You will also benefit from small class sizes and personalised one-to-one sessions with your tutor.

The MSc Accounting and Finance programme is delivered through a combination of seminars, lectures, class discussions, group work, case-study analysis and presentations. Assessments will take the form of individual essays, group assessments, end of term examinations and a dissertation.

Course delivery

We offer a combination of evening and weekend classes which are designed to accommodate working professionals and those who choose to study full-time.

Our draft timetable for Full-time students is designed to deliver teaching on one or two evenings from 18:00-21:00 and on Saturday from 09:00-15:00 (timings vary per module). Each module is block taught over 3 weeks. Part-time students will study during these hours as per the number of modules they choose to study.
