Dubai Education Committee

Our Dubai Education Committee addresses general learning and teaching challenges and opportunities affecting the University of Birmingham Dubai.

Purpose

The University of Birmingham Dubai's Education Committee supports the Education Committees of the University, Colleges, and Schools. It identifies challenges and opportunities specific to the Dubai campus and suggests solutions and improvements to the Dubai Senior Management Team.

Terms of Reference

  1. To develop and deliver the University of Birmingham Dubai’s Education Strategy in line with the University of Birmingham’s overall Education Strategy.
  2. To set any additional strategic priorities for education at University of Birmingham Dubai to complement College and School plans.
  3. To promote innovation in learning, teaching and assessment in order to enhance the quality, effectiveness and reputation of education provision, and to ensure best practice is shared.
  4. To support the initial and continuing professional development of academic staff and engage in monitoring and recommending continuous improvement in the provision.
  5. To monitor and respond to new external education policy frameworks or initiatives.
  6. To maintain oversight of the implementation of academic and student related policy and legislation.
  7. To consider significant education-related issues, lessons learnt and themes arising from quality assurance processes at the campus level.
  8. To analyse the education-related outcomes of student surveys, recommend actions, and track progress.

Meetings

The Dubai Education Committee will meet every two months and/or when required.
