    Who is Medici for?

Medici is for University researchers who want to explore the commercial potential of their research.

It is open to researchers from all schools and colleges who are considering commercialisation through any business model. Delegates can be at any stage of their journey, from early consideration with no clear business offering to working on a specific and viable business idea.

A limited number of funded places are available for University of Birmingham researchers. External delegates pay a commercial, but competitive, rate for the programme.

The Medici team also delivers as a bespoke onsite training courses at other Universities.

  • Dr Joanna Bucknall

    Medici case study

Drama lecturer Dr Joanna Bucknall founded the Immersive Experience Network (IEN) as a real-world hub and online platform to support creators in the growing immersive entertainment industry.

The Medici training helped Dr Bucknall and the IEN create multiple revenue streams from a single product, with plans to develop a membership App and a subscription model to facilitate access to talent and creative communities in the sector.

“I wanted to capitalise on, and leverage some of my research commercially, and Medici gave me the opportunity to do that, and offered a really powerful way to explore opportunities and a solid toolkit to consider my work commercially.”
