Work experience and mentoring
Offering work experience and mentoring opportunities is a great way for employers to build a relationship with the University of Birmingham and our students.
Work experience
Offering work experience opportunities not only provides you with the chance to train and inspire the future workforce, but it can also give you the opportunity to bring fresh new perspectives and ideas into your teams. Our talented students and graduates are passionate and eager to learn, and by recruiting from University of Birmingham you’ll tap into a pool of knowledgeable candidates who can bring value to your organisation.
Careers Network is working with employers to create bespoke internship opportunities available exclusively to UoB students and recent graduates through the B-Experienced Internship Programme. If funding is a barrier to recruitment for you, please get in touch following your expression of interest in the programme to discuss options. The funding available will be prioritised to local SMEs, start-ups, social enterprises, third sector and public sector employers.
Whether you are looking to offer internships, placements or any other work experience opportunities, our dedicated Internships Team can support you with recruiting the best candidates. To get in touch with the team, please email: internships@contacts.bham.ac.uk.
Please note that if you are a third-party provider - an external company or organisation which organises/facilitates international/overseas experiences, such as TEFL (Teach English as a foreign language), internships, placements, volunteering or field trips for students - we will require you to provide some additional information before advertising your opportunities. Please complete this information on the Overseas Opportunities Registration Form.
Mentoring
Mentoring is a unique opportunity that allows University of Birmingham students to enhance their experiences, by receiving one to one advice and guidance from a professional working in a particular sector. This can be a great way to understand how to succeed in this area and be better prepared for the working world beyond graduation.
To get involved with mentoring or if you have any queries please email mentoring@contacts.bham.ac.uk.
