Alumni Email 'For Life'

As a University of Birmingham graduate you are automatically enrolled in the Alumni email ‘for life’ service. The service offers:

• Continuation of use of your student email account as an alumnus/alumna after you have graduated *
• A 50GB mailbox with a cleaner interface and enhanced features
• The use of an @alumni.bham.ac.uk email address
• Mail sent to your previous @student.bham.ac.uk address will be delivered to your new @alumni.bham.ac.uk address for three months after your account transitions to alumni status.

*Postgraduate Research students will lose access to any existing email and a new email account will be created on Office 365.

Depending on the type of student you are, different things will happen to your email access.

Taught Students (UG/PGT)

Your email account will change to the Alumni email 'For Life' scheme. Any emails which were in your mailbox will still be there after this change.

Research Students (PGR)

You will lose access to your on-campus email account once your grace period is over. Any important personal emails will need to be backed up or forwarded to another account before your grace period ends.

As a research student you will have access to an 'Alumni email for life' account however this will be with a brand new mailbox which will not contain any of the information which was previously in your email account.
