Every student deserves to have the best experience possible. That’s why we’re here to support you if you have a disability or additional needs – helping you feel at home from day one with accommodation that can be tailored to you, where possible.
No one size fits all, which is why we provide support on a case-by-case basis. Let us know about your disability or additional needs when you apply for accommodation, even if we’re your insurance choice – and we’ll take care of the rest. Don’t forget to provide medical evidence; this is essential for ensuring you get the help you need.
You’ll also need to register with our Student Disability Service, a team we work closely with to ensure we can provide as much support as possible.
How we can help you
While we can’t guarantee that we’ll be able to meet all your needs, we will do our best to support you. Here are just some of the things we can offer:
- Room adaptations, including handrails, hoists and electric blinds
- Blue Badge parking at every student village
- Early check-in to avoid Arrivals Weekend
- Room for your personal assistant and/or guide dog to live with you
- Private viewings to see if our accommodation is the right fit for you
Here’s third-year student Olivia to tell you more and share how we have helped her as a student with an invisible disability.

Worried about paying for your accommodation?
If you have additional costs as a direct result of your disability or additional needs, you may be eligible for funding from the University to support you. The amount of funding you can receive is based on your individual needs, pending an assessment from our Student Disability Service.
You may be eligible for Disabled Students’ Allowance (DSAs) too.
