Singaporean students at Birmingham Law School

LLB programmes - Students with suitable grades at A Levels, International Baccalaureate (IB), or equivalent, or a suitable foundation programme, such as one of our Foundation Pathways, may be considered for entry to an undergraduate programme. Students who have successfully completed a Polytechnic Diploma may be considered for entry to our undergraduate LLB programmes.

LLB for Graduates - We require a 2:1 or equivalent in a non-law degree from a recognised institution for entry to our LLB for Graduates programme. We can also consider high 2:2s alongside relevant professional experience.

LLM programmes - We require a 2:1 or equivalent in an LLB degree from a recognised institution for entry to our LLM programmes.  Relevant equivalent study or professional experience can also be considered for entry.

English language - English language at grade C6 or above in the GCE O-level certificate, is sufficient to meet the standard English language requirements. Alternatively, we ask for IELTS 6.5 with no less than 6.0 in any band. More information can be found on our international pages. 

Students with an overseas law degree looking to practice in Singapore will need to complete further legal training/work and examinations. You can find further information from the Singapore Institute of Legal Education.

Student Experience Officer

Birmingham Law School has a dedicated Student Experience Officer who works in collaboration with staff across the College to develop a range of enhancement activities for current students. The Student Experience team host a wide range of activities and initiatives designed to enhance and enrich your experience to ensure you make the most of your time at Birmingham. 

Student societies

Many nationality groups form student societies during their time at the University of Birmingham. The University of Birmingham’s Singapore society aims to bring together students from Singapore, and anyone interested in the Singaporean culture, hosting a range of events to help you settle into University life. There are plenty of opportunities to join a vibrant community of people in one of our 300 incredible student groups, societies and associations!

Advice and support

All members of Law academic staff have office hours set aside each week for students to meet them on a 1-1 basis, meaning that they are always available if you need further clarification or assistance with your studies. On arrival, you will be allocated a personal tutor who will support your personal and academic development, as well as assist with any welfare issues you might have for the duration of your study.

There is also lots of advice and support on offer from our International Student Team, both during the application process and throughout your stay in Birmingham.
