Be moved by live music in the Elgar Concert Hall. This 420-seat concert venue sits at the centre of the campus in the Bramall Music Building and is a hub of cultural activity. You can enjoy concerts every week during term time, from large orchestras, choirs, and string quartets to live jazz, RnB, folk, spoken word and electronic music.
The Elgar Concert Hall boasts world-class acoustics (with the same acoustic design team as Symphony Hall), and host numerous conferences and private events throughout the year. The venue also includes a 100-seat performance studio, The Dome, and a bright and welcoming coffee shop and bar in which you are surrounded by exhibitions.
The building is home to the University of Birmingham’s Department of Music and University Music – the University’s music-making programme which welcomes students, staff, and the local community to participate in its 40 ensembles, and rehearse and give performances in the Elgar Concert Hall.
Whether you come along for a coffee, a BBC Radio 3 lunchtime concert, or even to perform on stage yourself, the Elgar Concert Hall’s doors are open and we look forward to welcoming you!
