    Meet Sophie

Hey, I’m Sophie and I am a third year studying English with Creative Writing! I love reading, solo travelling and photography – I am also the literary event's organizer for UoB Writers Bloc society. You can probably catch me on campus studying in the Barber Fine Art Institute or getting one too many coffees at the many cafes around Brum! Follow my Instagram and YouTube to get a little peek into what student life is like and stay tuned for advice and recommendations on taking a gap year, student finances, how to balance social and study time and all the good Uni student things!

Get to know Sophie

  1. In 10 years I want to be… living in either Seoul, Paris or Auckland, working for a company I feel passionate about, writing books in my spare time and starting to look into doing a PHD in Gender and Sexuality studies
  2. Every Uni student needs... an immaculate study Spotify playlist with some good headphones
  3. My best piece of advice for students is… join as many as societies as you feel you can!! It's the best way to make friends easily and a good way to break the ice with course mates!
  4. My favourite thing about Birmingham is… how there is always something going on! Whether its poetry open mic nights, new art exhibitions, open air cinema screenings - there is always something new to do.
  5. Best study space on campus is… Barber Fine Art Institute Library (It's heaven, just trust me).
  6. If I could be anyone for a day I would be… an explorer in some fantasy land where there are dragons and magic.
  7. When not studying you’ll find me… walking along the canals blasting out Lorde, pretending I am the main character.
  8. When I was little I wanted to be… an astronaut but unfortunately I wasn't good at Physics or Maths.
  9. Best budget friendly meal… Doenjang Jjigae - especially in the winter, it's so filling and yummy!
  10. Snobs or The Soak… - Neither... straight to Gales!
