Why did you choose to study at the University of Birmingham?
I chose University of Birmingham because it has a long tradition of academic excellence and a good reputation of caring for and supporting undergraduate and postgraduate students. After browsing on the Internet I found that the University of Birmingham is well-known for quality teaching and on-going research activities and has one of the largest international student communities in the UK.
Where did you previously study? How does studying at Birmingham differ from where you have previously studied?
I did my undergraduate degree in Pakistan. The method of teaching here is different and study mostly based on independent work including practical work which I found more effective.
What makes your course at Birmingham stand out for you?
The specialist course modules and teaching by academics as well as industrial staff makes my course stand out for me.
How would you rate the facilities in the School, and can you give us a brief description of the facilities you’re using?
The facilities provided by GEES are excellent and currently I am using Geoscience Microscope facilities, The Lapworth Museum of Geology, laboratories and internet facilities, which are of great importance for me.
How do you find the level of support you get from your lecturers?
My lecturers are very cooperative and they help me in every field. I received help and assistance from the moment I first got in touch with the University to enquire about the course through to when I finally arrived at Birmingham – this gave me a very positive impression of the University.
How do you find living in Birmingham?
I love to live in Birmingham because Birmingham is a harmonious city which is good for studying and living. It’s a beautiful place to visit and I really feel like it is my home away from home. The warm welcoming culture of the people around and the structure of everything is so perfect.
Would you recommend Birmingham to other students?
Yes I would like to recommend Birmingham to other students as it is the best place to live and study.
What do you hope to go on to do in the future and what are your career plans?
My future plan is to start my career as a bio-stratigrapher in the Oil Industry.
